Food Delivery Payment Pending but No Order? What to Check in Korea

A card entry does not tell you whether dinner is being prepared. Compare order and payment records, keep evidence, and ask the service and issuer different questions.

Your card app shows a Korea food-delivery transaction, but the delivery app has no order you can find. Paying again may create a second problem without explaining the first. Start by matching one checkout attempt to two records: the delivery service's order record and the card issuer's transaction record.

This guide is for a checkout that has already produced an unclear result. For a card that is simply rejected before an order exists, use the general foreign-card troubleshooting guide. For the account or payment menu itself, use the Baemin guest walkthrough or the Coupang Eats eligibility checks.

Quick answer

Do not submit the same basket again while its outcome is unknown. Check the original account or guest session, save the attempt's time and amount, and ask the delivery service whether an order was created. Separately ask your card issuer whether its entry is pending, posted, reversed or refunded.

Payment authorization can reserve funds before a payment is captured, and some card interfaces do not clearly distinguish the stages. That explains why a card alert is not, by itself, evidence of an accepted restaurant order.[1]

Go straight to: The order/payment table or the support questions.

Match the order and card records first

Delivery-service recordCard recordWhat to establish next
No order foundPending or unclearAsk the service to locate the attempt; ask the issuer what the entry represents. Do not re-submit yet.
No order foundPosted or completedAsk the service to reconcile the captured payment and missing order; obtain a case reference.
Order exists and is acceptedPending or postedFollow that order. Do not buy again simply because the card label has not changed.
Order rejected or cancelledPendingAsk whether the authorization was released and how the issuer will display that result.
Order cancelled; refund promisedPosted charge remainsAsk whether a refund was actually submitted, its amount and its reference.
One order; two entriesAny combinationDetermine whether there were two attempts, a pending-to-posted transition, or two completed charges before calling it a duplicate payment.

The table organizes questions; it cannot see the restaurant's system or your bank ledger. “No order found” means you cannot locate it, not that the service has confirmed that no order exists. A support answer can change the branch you should follow.

Recover the same account or guest session

Return to the app and session used for the attempt. Check the selected account, registered email or guest number, and the order-history area available to you. An empty history in another account is not proof of a failed checkout.

Look for the restaurant, amount, approximate time and any confirmation message. Keep notifications or receipts that help identify the attempt, without exposing payment credentials. Do not log out, clear app storage or reinstall simply to make the history refresh.

If you moved from the delivery app to a bank-authentication screen, return to the original app rather than opening a new basket. Completing an authentication challenge is a different checkpoint from locating an accepted order; Visa describes 3-D Secure as cardholder authentication, not restaurant fulfillment.[3]

Build one short reconciliation record

Record these details privately before contacting support:

FieldWhat to write
Service and account pathApp name; member account or guest session
Attempt timeDate, time and time zone, preferably Korea time
PurchaseRestaurant branch, food total and final checkout total in KRW
Order evidenceReference and exact status, or “not found in my current session”
Card evidenceMerchant descriptor, transaction amount, currency and current status
Repeated attemptsHow many times you submitted, and whether you changed the card or basket

Compare the original KRW transaction where available. A converted home-currency amount is not a reason to match an unrelated transaction. The statement's merchant descriptor may also differ from the restaurant's name; ask the issuer to identify it instead of guessing.

Do not send an entire bank statement. Start with the transaction details support requests and mask all but the last four card digits. Provide additional details only through the organization's secure official process.

Ask the service about the order and the issuer about the money

Message to the delivery service: “At __ Korea time, I attempted a KRW __ order from __ using __ account/guest access. My card shows __, but I cannot locate an order. Was an order created, was the restaurant notified, and was this payment captured? Please provide the order or investigation reference.”

A short Korean version is: 결제 내역은 보이는데 주문을 찾을 수 없어요. 주문이 생성됐는지와 결제 상태를 확인해 주세요. — “I can see a payment entry but cannot find the order. Please check whether an order was created and the payment status.”

Message to the card issuer: “For merchant __, KRW __ and timestamp __, is this an authorization hold, a posted payment, a reversal or a refund? Are these two displayed entries separate charges? What information and follow-up date should I obtain from the merchant?”

The restaurant can help confirm whether it received an order, but that answer alone may not identify the processor's payment state. Keep the delivery service and issuer involved when the two records disagree.

Use the correct branch after support replies

Example A — pending entry, no order confirmed. The service confirms that no order was created and no payment was captured. Save that answer and ask whether the authorization was cancelled or left to expire. Your issuer can explain when available funds will reflect the result. Once the service has resolved the first attempt, choose a new meal or another method deliberately; keep the old case until the card record is settled.

Example B — an accepted order was hidden in another session. Recover the correct session, check the destination and preparation status, and follow that order. A second order is unnecessary. If you no longer need the food, use the service's cancellation process; logging out does not cancel a purchase.

Example C — a posted payment cannot be matched to an order. Ask the service to investigate the payment and provide a written resolution or refund reference. If the issue remains unresolved, ask your issuer about its dispute process and deadlines. Describe the facts accurately; a recognized purchase attempt is not automatically an unauthorized-card incident.

These are fictional decision examples, not reports of tested transactions or guaranteed outcomes.

Distinguish a released hold from a refund

Cancelling an uncaptured payment and refunding a completed payment are different operations. A release may remove or change a pending entry rather than appear as a new positive credit. A refund can have its own reference and processing status.[1][2]

Ask for the original transaction reference, the amount reversed or refunded, the date submitted and any trace reference available. Ask the issuer when to follow up rather than relying on a universal “three-day” or “seven-day” promise. Tell both parties about an existing refund or dispute so the same issue is not pursued as two unrelated cases.

The Stripe documentation cited here explains payment stages in general. It is not evidence that Baemin, Coupang Eats or your transaction uses Stripe, and its product-specific processing timelines are not applied to your card.

Frequently asked questions

Does one pending entry and one posted entry prove I paid twice?

No. Ask the issuer whether the entries represent one payment moving between states or separate transactions. Match references and amounts, not just the number of rows on screen.

Can I buy food elsewhere while the investigation continues?

You still need to eat, but first try to establish whether the original meal is being prepared. If you choose a separate purchase before the case is resolved, recognize the risk of two meals or temporarily tied-up funds. It does not cancel the first attempt.

What if the card transaction is not one I recognize at all?

Contact the card issuer promptly through its official security channel. That is a different situation from reconciling your own attempted order; do not wait for the food-delivery troubleshooting process.

Your next move

Write down the attempt time, KRW amount, order evidence and card status. Get one answer about the meal from the delivery service and one about the money from the issuer, then follow the matching branch without submitting an unexplained duplicate.
