Visit Busan Pass BIG3 vs BIG5: Which Attraction Combinations Work?

Check the Group A and B rules before choosing BIG3 or BIG5, using valid and invalid attraction combinations rather than a generic pass-savings promise.

Three attractions do not automatically make a valid BIG3 itinerary. The useful question is how many of your chosen places fall in each group. This guide works through actual combinations, then shows how to repair a list that does not fit.

The examples use the official September 2026 Visit Busan Pass guidebook and attraction directory reviewed for this edition. They are planning examples, not reservations, a promise of current availability or a claim that every stop belongs in one day. [1] [2]

Quick answer

BIG3 covers one Group A selection and two Group B selections; BIG5 covers two A and three B selections. First label the places you would genuinely visit, then count each group separately. The official guidebook prices used below are ₩45,000 for BIG3 and ₩65,000 for BIG5. Recheck the current product before buying. [1]

Worked listGroup countWhat the combination tells you
Busan X the Sky + Haeundae Beach Train + Busan TowerA + B + BFits BIG3's allocation
Busan X the Sky + Spa Land + Haeundae Beach TrainA + A + BDoes not fit BIG3, despite having only three stops
Busan X the Sky + Spa Land + Beach Train + Busan Tower + Museum 1A + A + B + B + BFits BIG5's allocation

These group assignments come from the reviewed official materials. A combination fitting the allocation does not establish that the pass saves money or that the attractions have usable entry times on your dates. [1] [2]

Label the exact admission, not just the attraction name

Place used in the examplesReviewed groupDetail to verify before counting it
Busan X the SkyAThe included admission and any date restrictions
Spa Land Centum CityASession conditions, age rules and extras
Haeundae Beach TrainBThe included train benefit; do not substitute Sky Capsule
Busan TowerBIncluded admission and operating conditions
Museum 1BCurrent exhibition/admission conditions

The directory and guidebook define the actual benefit, not this shorthand table. Read the named attraction's current pass page before entering it on your list. A photo of the Sky Capsule is not proof that a Beach Train benefit covers that ride. [1] [2]

Keep your own worksheet to four fields: exact benefit, A/B group, price you would otherwise pay, and planned visit date. Leave uncertain items out of the saving calculation until confirmed. This avoids counting an expensive experience that the pass does not actually include.

Repair the three-stop list that contains two A attractions

Suppose your must-do list is Busan X the Sky, Spa Land and Beach Train. It uses two A selections. You cannot make it fit BIG3 by leaving one B selection unused: unused B capacity is not an extra A selection. [1]

You have three practical comparisons. BIG3 plus a separate ticket: allocate its A slot to one eligible attraction and price the other separately. BIG5: check whether its second A slot and any B visits you really want justify the higher pass cost. Separate tickets: price the three intended visits without a pass.

OptionYour cost worksheetQuestion it answers
BIG3 plus the additional A visitCurrent BIG3 price + usable separate admission for the other A attractionIs adding one ticket cheaper than upgrading?
BIG5Current BIG5 price + any excluded extrasAre the additional allocations worth the extra cost to you?
Individual ticketsActual available prices for the same three benefitsWould buying no pass cost less?

Use like-for-like benefits and dates. A refundable individual ticket and a restricted pass admission may not be equivalent. Do not put a zero beside a stop merely because it appears in a promotional list; first establish the included entitlement.

Treat the upgrade as an incremental purchase

At the guidebook prices above, the BIG5 price is ₩20,000 higher than BIG3. That arithmetic is only a starting point: compare it with what you would otherwise spend on your additional intended admissions. [1]

For an illustration, suppose the extra A ticket you actually need would cost ₩18,000 and you do not want an additional B visit. On those invented figures, BIG3 plus that ticket totals ₩63,000, versus ₩65,000 for BIG5. That is a hypothetical decision example, not a current attraction quote.

Now suppose the same additional ticket would cost ₩24,000 under the conditions you can use. BIG3 plus the ticket would total ₩69,000; BIG5 would cost less if its benefits really cover your list. Again, the ticket price is invented to show the comparison, not a recommendation to purchase either pass.

Count only stops you would choose anyway. Adding a long cross-city journey to consume a spare B slot can create spending and fatigue rather than useful value.

Turn the allocation into a workable visit plan

After choosing a valid combination, check each attraction's operating calendar, reservation or ticket-exchange requirements and travel time. A pass entitlement is not evidence of a reserved time slot. Leave a practical gap between activities rather than stacking every possible benefit into the itinerary. [2] [3]

The counted passes also have clocks. The reviewed guidebook distinguishes the general one-year validity from purchase from BIG3/BIG5's 180-day use period after first use. Do not add those periods together as an automatic extension; check the expiry displayed for your own pass. [1]

For the wider choice between timed and counted passes, activation, the live mobile-pass display and the separate transit function, use the main Visit Busan Pass buying and activation guide. Those operational checks matter, but they do not change an A+B+B calculation into A+A+B.

Frequently asked questions

Can three Group B attractions replace the BIG3 allocation?

Do not assume groups are interchangeable. The published allocation is one A and two B selections; confirm the product's current terms before buying for a different pattern. [1]

Is a valid BIG5 combination automatically the best value?

No. Validity of the combination and value for your trip are separate questions. Compare the actual admissions you would buy and the schedule you can complete, not the largest possible total of advertised prices.

Can I swap Beach Train for Sky Capsule in the example?

Not just by changing the name. Verify the current included benefit for the specific ride. These examples count the listed Beach Train benefit, not an assumed Sky Capsule ticket. [1] [2]

Your next move

Write your desired stops as A or B, cross out any benefit you have not verified, then compare the valid pass combination with individual tickets. Buy only after that list fits both the allocation and your actual days in Busan.
